The 21-year-old has started his side's last four games but was missing from the 23-man squad preparing for the trip to the Brentford Community Stadium on Sunday. STATEMENT: London Irish respond to reported merger with Wasps - RuckNeil Fissler from The Rugby Paper reported yesterday that there could be a shock merger between two Gallagher Premiership clubs. He wrote in this weekend’s edition: “Wasps could be set to leave Coventry and make a return to their traditional home in London as part of a potential merger with London Irish.
The South African's last taste of Premiership action came nearly 16 weeks ago against Leicester Tigers. He becomes the third different player to wear the number 14 shirt in as many Premiership games for Wasps as Paolo Odogwu remains on the bench. Zach Kibirige, who started there against Worcester Warriors, moves to full-back with Jacob Umaga selected as a replacement. Also on the bench is James Gaskell as he is selected for the first time in two months while Gabriel Oghre is restored to the starting line-up with Dan Frost rotating to the number 16 shirt. Heading into round 24, Wasps sit six points off the top four and know they must keep on winning and for results elsewhere to go their way to have any chance of a late surge into the top four.
The Black and Golds trailed 33-10 at half-time before a stirring comeback saw them secure a 39-36 victory. "It was a crazy game, it felt like we were 50 points behind at half-time and we went and won it with the last play. It probably the biggest game of two halves you're every going to see in your life, " said Wasps head coach Lee Blackett. "It was a strange feeling at full-time compared to how we felt at half-time that day. " The back-row space on the bench is filled by Thomas Young, who has not featured since injuring his neck against Munster in January as he plays out his final few months as a Wasps player before joining Cardiff. Also returning to the fold after a lengthy period out injured and out-of-favour is Francois Hougaard.

London Irish statement: Merger speculation - RugbyPass
Wasps
“A party looking to buy financially stricken Wasps have held tentative discussions about also buying the Exiles, who have been put up for sale by owner Mick Crossan. ” However, the Exiles have moved quick to dismiss any such merger. The statement from London Irish read: “The board of directors of London Irish has today dismissed as “total and utter speculation” the press reports alleging that the Club is exploring a merger with Wasps, who have been suspended from the Gallagher Premiership and face relegation if, as expected, they go into administration. “London Irish principal shareholder, Mick Crossan, recently confirmed that he would relinquish his shares in London Irish to new owners that would be prepared to guarantee the security of the Club going forward.

"There feels like there's some momentum building, " said Blackett. "Going into the end of the season, there's a knock-out mindset about us, we can't hide away from the fact if we've got any ambitions to be in the top four, there's no way we can possibly lose a game from now until the end of the season.
